Anesthesiologist's Manual of Surgical Procedures, 4th Edition

Completely updated, and now in full color, this practical reference is a comprehensive guide to the anesthetic and perioperative management of patients during all procedures performed by general and subspecialist surgeons. The book explains each procedure from both the surgeon’s and the anesthesiologist’s perspective, presents details on anesthetic technique, and guides the anesthesiologist and surgeon through the decisions that must be made before, during, and after surgery. Emphasis is on factors that impact the anesthesiologist, including patient positioning, duration of surgery, and complications. The Fourth Edition covers almost 40 new surgical procedures, with an increased focus on laparoscopic and endovascular procedures.

A companion Website will offer the fully searchable text and an image bank.

With hundreds of books to choose from, I refer to this one more than any to prepare for my cases. As a caveat my experience level is < 500 cases. Those with more experience have complained that it is inaccurate, incomplete, even insulting. I can understand the first two complaints, but it is a compromise with girth as this book is already > 1500 pages. It’s a great start for a green provider.

Great book to read and refer to. Used it a lot in training. Would buy again. Would recommend to anyone.

I purchased this book because I had extra CME money. Certainly a good review, especially if you’re doing a case that you havent done in a while.

I’ve used the 2nd edition of this book, but this edition is an order of magnitude improved. The book is much bigger: it now has over 1500 pages, and the print has color, including color diagrams.

Best of all, you now get online access to the full searchable text, including diagrams. This overcomes one of the criticism of the previous editions that the book is not portable. You can now get full acess at work or print out the pages you’re interested in on a color printer and just take that to the OR.

I must say I was blown away by the improvements.

I would highly recommend this to SRNAs starting their clinical rotations. It was helpful to know what to expect from the different procedures from the book. Highly recommend! fast delivery also.
